Closing Logo Group

(November 5, 1987-Spetember 1st, 1995)

Logo: We start watching a brown background, then we zoom out faster, and the brown background reveals a building which looks like a filmstrip. Now the background is blue, and at the left of the building there is a silhouette of a palm tree. When we stop zooming out, a big sun fades behind the two objects, and at the right of the building, the letters "SGE" (in a square Orion-like font as the previous "SEC" logo) fades in. Under all the objects, "SHAPIRO GLICKENHAUS ENTERTAINMENT" (in a very narrow font) fades in.

FX/SFX: Pretty animation.

  • A still variant appears on trailers for films from this company. On some later releases with previews, this version is used, but "also from" appears in addition.
  • On the 1995 G-rated edit of 1992's Freddie as F.R.O.7. (now known as Freddie the Frog, and also the last appearance of the logo), it animates slightly faster than usual.

Music/Sounds: None most of the time.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On Tough and Deadly, a rising whoosh is coupled with a repeating synth theme, and then the whoosh becomes a bass line.
  • On Ring the Steel, the opening noise is heard over it.

Availability: Can still be seen on movies produced by this company, such as Basket Case 2 and 3 (although this is left off the Synapse Films DVD of the former), Frankenhooker, Forced March, Back in Action, Tiger Claws, Talons of the Eagle, TC 2000, Blue Vengeance, McBain, Timemaster, both Red Scorpion movies (the Canadian VHS of Red Scorpion 2 uses the August Entertainment logo instead), No Retreat, No Surrender 2, Midnight Edition, The Outfit, Monolith, Mr. Write (on the original VHS/Laserdisc release; DVDs instead have the Vision International logo), Slaughter of the Innocents, Death Spa (some international prints, particularly the Japanese VHS), Freakshow (1989), Search and Destroy, The Brain (1988) (on international prints), Mob War, and Maniac Cop (also cut from the Synapse DVD), among others. It is preserved on Echo Bridge's DVD release of Shocktroop.

Scare Factor: None.
