Paramount Global (formerly ViacomCBS; commonly shortened to Paramount) is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. The company was originally created from the second merger of the respective second iterations of CBS Corporation and Viacom (both of which were under National Amusements, and were split from the original iteration of the former in 2006) on December 4, 2019.

On February 16, 2022, it was oficially renamed Paramount Global, after its movie studio, further capitalizing on its flagship streaming service, Paramount+.

ViacomCBS

2019–2022

2019-2020

After almost 13 years of splitting, a re-merger between the CBS Corporation and Viacom, that created the combined company ViacomCBS, was announced on August 13, 2019. The re-merger was completed on December 4, 2019.

2020–2022

On September 28, 2020, a minor edit was made to ViacomCBS by swapped the colors in its logo, with "Viacom" appearing in light blue, while "CBS" appeared in dark blue, albeit in different shades. This logo variation was first unveiled in the company's EyeQ video advertising platform, revealed a month prior on August 4.

Paramount Global

2022–present

On February 15, 2022, chairwoman Shari Redstone and CEO Bob Bakish jointly announced that ViacomCBS would be relaunched as Paramount Global the following day, effectively retiring the Viacom name overall after over 50 years (excluding Viacom18, Viacom Vantage, ViacomCBS EyeQ and ViacomCBS Digital Studios). This marks the first time that flagship property Paramount Pictures and its parent company had shared the same name since 1989, when Gulf and Western Industries became Paramount Communications. The logo's design is based on the one from their streaming service Paramount+, but with a darker shade of blue.
