Background: Olive Films was a company that specialized in the theatrical re-release and home media release of various films (primarily from the 1960s and earlier). The company also released various television series to disc.
(2008-December 15, 2020)[]
Nicknames: "The Bug", "The Olive Bug"
Logo: An olive-colored bug is seen with "Olive" in white and "Films" in grey. "Olive" then disappears and "Films" turns olive. The bug's eyes start to move, along with other parts of its body. "Olive" reappears and the entire logo turns white, starts to blur, then turns grey and fades like a filmstrip ending.
Variants:
- A longer version of the logo exists, which starts with the bug flying in and jumping a few times to reveal "Olive." A flower appears with each flash of light.
- On the 2013 DVD of The Monster Squad, after the film ends, the logo appears vertically stretched.
- A black and white version exists, which appears on the 2015 DVD and Blu-ray of the serial Flying Disc Man from Mars.
FX/SFX: The bug moving, the colors changing and the fade out effect.
Music/Sounds: Some weird whirring sound, followed by sudden buzzing at the end. Otherwise, it's silent. The extended version features a few "bong" noises before the other sounds.
Availability: This logo can be seen on DVD and Blu-ray releases from the company, such as Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), Knock on Wood, The Boogens, Phase IV, Saved!, Won Ton Ton: The Dog Who Saved Hollywood, American Ninja I-IV, and seasons 7-13 of King of the Hill, among others. This logo may have also been seen on theatrical re-releases from the company. The extended version can be seen on 2010-11 releases with this logo, such as My Favorite Spy and Hannie Caulder.
