Closing Logo Group

Background[]

Mattel Creations was formed by Mattel in 2016 to bring all four of their content creation units: Mattel Playground Productions, Mattel Studios, HiT Entertainment, and the American Girl creative team in Middleton, Wisconsin together. In 2019, the division was reorganized as Mattel Television.

(2016-)[]

Mattel Creations

Nicknames: “The Cut-out”, “Red Piece of Scrap Paper”, “Spiky Circle”, “I Think There’s A Way To Escape”, “My Creation”, “Mattel Sketch”

Logo: On a red background, the shape of the Mattel logo (a spiky circle) cuts out. Then, the background falls down as if it were a piece of paper, revealing a gray wall background, and the word "MATTEL" (in the logo font) is carved into the circle in its corporate font. The circle, which was at an angle before, moves to the center of the screen, and the red pieces in the company name fall down (turning the company name white) and turn into the red text "CREATIONS", (before 2019) or "TELEVISION" (since 2019).

Variants:

  • The logo is often sped-up on TV shows.
  • There is a warp-speed variant on The Toy Box.
  • On 2nd season of Little People, a copyright info is at below of the logo.

FX/SFX: The cutting out and the forming of either "CREATIONS" or "TELEVISION".

Music/Sounds: Cutting, pencil scribbling and paper folding sounds, then a drone after the Mattel logo centers itself. Sometimes, the generic network theme, the ending theme of the show, or none.

Availability: Common. It has appeared on UK HiT Entertainment DVD releases since 2016, as well as Barbie movies beginning with Video Game Hero.

  • The short version appears on post-2017 episodes of Thomas & Friends beginning with Series 21 until Series 24, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go from Series 1 until Series 3, Fireman Sam beginning with Series 11, the third and final series of 2015's Bob the Builder, Polly Pocket (Season 1 until Season 5), Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the 2021 reboot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Minecraft Mini-Series, Barbie: Dreamhouse Adventures, Barbie: It Takes Two, Deepa & Anoop, Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge, Barbie: A Touch of Magic, Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Hot Wheels Let's Race, Mattel's English dub of Turning Mecard (which is different from the one that was produced in Hong Kong), the 2022 series of Monster High, and Scrabble.
  • This logo does not appear on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and Pingu in the City.

Editor's Note: A well-animated and creative (no pun intended) logo that's a welcome change of pace from the long-running 2007 HiT logo. Unfortunately, the company itself is known to be hated for its business practices, especially when they announced the Thomas & Friends reboot All Engines Go, which was panned by many fans, kids, and parents alike.

(2024-)[]
