Logo description by seconteen
Logo capture by Eric S.
Background: Magnolia Home Entertainment is the home entertainment division of Magnolia Pictures.
(January 17, 2006–)[]
Logo: It starts out with a DVD zooming out on a black background, revealing "Magnolia" behind it. Many light effects are used. The DVD heads toward the left side of "Magnolia" as the words "home entertainment" form underneath. The lighting effects dim, revealing the logo as the DVD turns into the Magnolia logo. Then a white lighting effect scrolls through behind "Magnolia Home Entertainment."
FX/SFX: Computerized light effects.
Variants:
- On early releases, the effects are different.
- On the 2008 DVD of I Really Hate My Job, just before The Works logo that opens the movie, this logo is used, but it starts just as the disc settles into place.
Music/Sounds: Some whooshes and typewriting noises.
Availability: Common. Seen on DVDs, Blu-rays, and UHDs like Hank and Mike, What Just Happened?, Two Lovers, Food Inc., Marley, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, White Bird in a Blizzard, Life Partners, The Two Faces of January, 2:22, Higher Power, Blade of the Immortal, Hail Satan?, and Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band. Strangely, this isn't seen on the exclusive 2013 VHS of (what else?) V/H/S, probably due to this logo depicting a DVD instead. It's also missing from Voices of Iraq. Normally, the logo appears at both ends of releases, but on Tidal Wave, it's only seen at the beginning.
Editor's Note: The whooshes and typewriting noises may startle some people, but it's a big improvement over the movie logo.
