Closing Logo Group

Background[]

Kong Ngee Co. was founded by Singaporean brothers Ho Khee-yong and Ho Khee-siang, and went on to produce numerous iconic Cantonese films in the 1950s and the 1960s.

(1955-68)[]

KONG NGEE

Logo: On a dark sunburst background we see a 21-pointed star semicircle, similar to the Paramount Pictures logo. Above the semicircle, we see an ocean sunrise background with an mountain/island (looks like an giant islet) on it. A drawing of a black lighthouse, which spells, traducted to "Kong Ngee" in it's white borders, appears blocking part of the ocean sunrise background. Below it it's the ribbon saying "Motion Picture Production Company". It's also a translation of the text. The sun then begins rising and the rays are still moving and we fade to black.

FX/SFX: The background and the dark rays.

Cheesy Factor: They didn't have to copy the logo concept of Hsin Wha, even if was likely intentional. Also, the ribbon seems like something made in clay and we can barely see the sunburst.

Music/Sounds: A portion of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss.

Availability: Scarce, seen on their films of the time, which most of them are hard to find. One example of this probably is Adventures of Genius Boy.
