Closing Logo Group

Background[]

Filmko was formed in 2000 by Alex Wong and directors Derek Yee and Chi Leung "Jacob" Cheung after Wong's production house Alexander Entertainment Production Limited was folded in.

(July 12, 2001-)[]

Logo:

  • July 12, 2001-September 19, 2002: A bright light illuminates in the center of the screen, revealing a white 8-pointed star, made out of a crystalline material, rotating counterclockwise, with rays of light rotate around it, revealing cloud covers. A starry background is also briefly seen when the star is revealed. As the rays rotate around and the star slowly zooms in, a lens flare comes in form the upper right corner of the screen, passes over the star, and then disappears at the same time as the spotlight rays fade out. When the star stops spinning, a white light appears in the center and expands out in the cardinal directions, creating a compass/cross pattée shape as the picture is condensed into a box and shifted upwards. Below, "FILMKO PICTURES" in a orange Gill Sans font, and "presents" in a red serif font, fade in below.
  • June 2, 2003-March 6, 2009: On a starry space background with moving clusters of stars, the 8-pointed star crystal is shown to the side before flipping towards the camera slowly, rotating clockwise as it does, and a bright salmon glow is seen from the star as it zooms back. A lens flare also appears in the corner when the star fully faces forward. The star eventually stops glowing and rotating as it zooms back, and the same black background and cross-shaped light box fade in behind the logo. Below it, "FILMKO" fades in below in a red 3D Century Gothic font, followed by the Chinese name "星皓" below.
  • October 15, 2010-: Similar to the 2003 version, but remade with higher-quality CGI. The space background has a slight blue tint to it, the crystal star is much clearer and has a blue hint, while losing its salmon glow part way through the rotation, and there is a constant light emitted from the crystal at all times. The star also remains centered throughout the logo, but when the box (which has a platinum tint to it and much cleaner light rays) fades in, the logo slides up as "FILMKO", now in a flat 2D Lithos font (which may be smaller than before), fades in with it, and "星皓" is bigger. Starting in 2021, the star turns gold near the end of the logo, the box and "星皓" are also gold, and "FILMKO" is smaller, darker, and in 3D.

Variant: Sometimes, the logo is shortened to either the light cross appearing or the text fading in.

FX/SFX: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A rising whoosh is heard first, followed by a double tonic chime, and then 2 more ascending whoosh noises. The sounds were enhanced starting in 2013 with additional twinkling and a choir, and the logo is sometimes silent or has the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Appears on all releases from the company, starting with Midnight Fly (慌心假期).
