(1977-1983)

Nickname: "EMI Block"

Logo: As the closing credits finish, the credit "A ROGER GIMBEL PRODUCTION FOR" appears on the screen in a Serif font, arranged in a semi-circular stack seen like this:

A
ROGER GIMBEL
PRODUCTION
FOR

"A" and "FOR" appear in smaller print, while Gimbel's name appears in larger print. Then this wipes out, and the EMI logo wipes in and the box then draws in. "EMI TELEVISION PROGRAMS, INC." is seen under the logo. Both the Gimbel credit and EMI logo are superimposed over the end-credit montage.

Variants:

  • On S.O.S. Titanic, the text on the box reads "EMI FILMS LIMITED" rather than just "EMI". Also the text below says "In Association With ARGONAUT FILMS LIMITED" appears below instead of "TELEVISION PROGRAMS, INC."
  • The opening version is set on a blue background, with the phrase "EMI FILMS LIMITED PRESENTS A ROGER GIMBEL PRODUCTION", with "EMI" inside a rectangle. It can be seen on S.O.S. Titanic.
  • Another opening version shows the EMI logo with the words "PRESENTS" followed by the Roger Gimbel credit except "FOR" is missing. It can be seen on The Amazing Howard Hughes.
  • At the end of The Amazing Howard Hughes, no text is shown below the EMI logo.
  • On Deadly Encounter, the text "FILMS LTD" appears instead of "TELEVISION PROGRAMS, INC."

FX/SFX: The wiping out of the Gimbel credit and the wiping of the EMI logo and the box drawing in.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare. Retained intact on its productions where aired (often followed by the Viacom "V of Doom" logo on most still-circulating prints). Among the notable TV movies it produced such as Dead Man's Curve, Deathmoon, The Legend of Walks Far Woman, and The Killing of Randy Webster, among others.

Editor's Note: None.
