Background[]
Canadian International Pictures (CIP) is a home entertainment distributor formed as a partnership between Vinegar Syndrome and OCN Distribution. The company's primary focus is on obscure arthouse and Canuxploitation films from Canada.
(January 25, 2022-)[]
Logo: A pink line draws itself in and makes a semicircle, forming a "p." As it does this, a yellow line draws itself in and curves slightly. A yellow dot falls on top of it, forming an "i." Finally, an orange semicircle draws itself in, forming a "c." Once this sequence finishes, the text "CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL PICTURES" wipes itself in, sliding to the left in the process.
Variants:
- Most CIP trailers use a still version.
- On the trailer for The Ernie Game, the logo starts at the "c" being formed.
- On black-and-white films, such as Don't Let the Angels Fall, a B&W version is used.
- On the trailer for Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance, the still variant fades in and out.
FX/SFX: Simple animation by Dylan Haley.
Music/Sounds: A held-out synth note, followed by a six-note tune (with the last note echoed). Performed by Alex Esk.
Music/Sounds Variants:
- On most trailers, the opening theme of the trailer is used.
- On the trailers for The Amityville Curse, Mindfield, Dream Life, East End Hustle, The Christmas Martian, The Dog Who Stopped the War, and Tiki Tiki, the logo is silent.
Availability: Current. It can be seen on CIP Blu-rays (as well as their lone UHD to date, East End Hustle), such as The Ernie Game, Forbidden Love, Nobody Waved Goodbye, Speaking Parts, The Hard Part Begins, a few Tales for All films, and Larry Kent's "Vancouver trilogy" (The Bitter Ash, Sweet Substitute, and When Tomorrow Dies).
