Closing Logo Group

Bo Ho Films Co., Ltd. was one of three Hong Kong film studios formed by Sammo Hung, who was to produce films under Golden Harvest's distribution from 1980-1992.

1st Logo

(1984)

Nicknames: "BH I", "BH of Doom", "V of Doom's Hong Kong Granddaughter", "That Scary Logo at the Beginning of Pom Pom", "The Reason Why I Never Watched Pom Pom", "Cheap BH"

Logo: It begins with the black starry background, and the goldenrod 'BH' logo flashed from the further distance. It zooms toward the center of the screen, a la Viacom's V of Doom, and it flashed again with its oncoming, colorful outlines in a regular black background. The logo zoomed to the top-center, and the goldenrod English text quickly zoomed to the bottom-center. The large, red Chinese text appeared before the logo flashed the last time.

FX/SFX: The background, the flash, the logo zooming forth, and the logo forming.

Cheesy Factor: The zooming in and animation are looking very cheap by today's standards. Also, the logo itself is hard to see, due to it's overused brightness.

Music/Sounds: A timpani roll breaking into a majestic and somewhat dramatic but happy-sounding fanfare coupled with glass-like synth laser zaps.

Availability: The only film this logo was spotted on is on Pom Pom, which can be seen on YouTube.

Scare Factor: Medium to high, due to darkness, the zooming logo parts (which would possibly make people jump out of their seats), and the laser zaps. Also, the dramatic fanfare really doesn't help, sounds like an loud but annoying victory sound.

Logo: A blue nebula like tunnel glows through the center of space, a la 2001: A Space Odyssey, then the two metallic bars appeared and formed the 'BH' logo with a touch of a flash. The Chinese text transitioned with laser effects from left to right, and the English text appeared at the bottom. While the nebula continues to flow toward the center, the rest of the logo shines in a metallic effect.

FX/SFX: The nebula and space background, laser transitions, metallic effects, and the logo forming in CGI.

Music/Sounds: The drum breaks the silence, and a cinematic fanfare plays with a mix of synth and loud drums.

Availability: It debuted on 1985's Heart Of Dragon, and can be seen on many films that has this logo throughout the 80's and early '90s.

Scare Factor: None. It's a bit dark and the fanfare is quite dramatic, but this is harmless than the first logo, and then makes up for one of the most recognizable Hong Kong logos.
