Closing Logo Group

Background[]

This was David Lynch's post-Lynch/Frost Productions production company.

1st Logo (1993)[]

Warning: Do not watch the video if you are prone to epilepsy.

Nicknames: "Strobe Light from Hell", "Eggs are Metrical", "SSL (Super Scary Lips)", "Klasky Csupo's Evil Twin", "The SSF's Distant Cousin", "Evil Lips", "These Lips Seem Symmetrical To Me", "Loose Lips Might Sink Ships...and Strobe Lights"

Logo: On a black background with lips we see the word "ASYMMETRICAL" stylized in a grey square like this:

ASYM

METR

ICAL

four letters line-by-line. We then see a strobe light-like flash as it zooms in as the letters spark. Then, the lips then says "asymmetrical" which appear to blur out over time.

FX/SFX: The flash, zooming, and sparking.

Music/Sounds: Loud, thunder-like hissing/sizzling noises and a droning synth trill followed by a robotic voice saying "asymmetrical" and the stock sound effect of electricity sparking. An eerie choir can be heard in the background too.

Availability: Only seen on the 3-part miniseries/failed pilot Hotel Room.

Editor's Note: This logo suffers from very dated effects and extremely strange subject matter. The voice sounds more like it's saying "eggs are metrical" more than "asymmetrical", and the lips look poorly masked, like as if a bad chroma-key effect was used. Then again, given its founder, its surrealist nature is to be expected.

2nd Logo (February 21, 1997)[]

Logo: Basically, on a dark background we see this text:

A S Y M

M E T R

I C A L

stylized as the previous logo, but every letter is inside an orange square. The squares are at the right side of the screen, and on the left side we see the logo of Ciby 2000. Both logos are separated by a bar. Above the logos we see A and below we see PRODUCTION.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen only on Lost Highway.
