Asylum Entertainment

Background

Asylum Entertainment is an American television production company founded in 2003 by Steve Michaels. Acquired by Legendary Entertainment in 2013, Michaels purchased it back in 2018 before selling a majority stake to Endeavor in 2023.

1st Logo (2003-2007)

Logo: On a black background with white-yellow streaks and a close-up of the word "ASYLUM" in green with the "S" almost looking like a "8" overlapping, a brighter streak zooms fast, revealing the same "ASYLUM" from the background in green with a white outline. "ENTERTAINMENT" in black is seen below "YLUM" and on the right side.

FX/SFX: CGI.

Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on their earlier shows such as Beyond the Glory and season 1 of American Gangster.

2nd Logo (2007-2013)

Logo: On a black background with a blue light, a blurred close-up of the word "Asylum" in a spray paint font in black and a blue burst, multiple blue-white squiggly streaks can be seen flying as the camera pans left and the same "Asylum" from the background in white-blue draws itself in and as the camera zooms in, "Asylum" suddenly shifts downward and right and the word "ENTERTAINMENT" blurs in one letter at random below "lum" and on the right side. The line in the "y" collapses and the streaks in the background fly again.

Variants:

• The logo is usually cut down at the start of the logo or at the end of the logo.
• A prototype version exists where the logo is animated differently until 2008. There is no blurred close-up of the word "Asylum" in a spray paint font in black and a blue burst in the background. A white line wipes in from the top and pans up to reveal a "y", "As lum" blurs and draws itself in and "ENTERTAINMENT" blurs in one letter at random and zooms out below "lum" and on the right side and the streaks are black in the background. Also, the logo is fully white.
• A in-credit version of this logo exists without the background. It's either animated or still.

FX/SFX: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A eerie synth theme with a chime. Sometimes, None. On the prototype version, cymbal crashes are heard at the start and the end of the logo.

Availability: Seen on their shows such as season 2 and 3 of American Gangster, World's Wildest Vacation Videos, The Kennedys and Owner's Manual.

3rd Logo (2013-)

Logo: On a black background with a bit of white spotlight, there is a shot of the flashing silver letters like "T" and "E" then it changes into another shot when the letter "U" also flashing then the shot changes to reveal the full silver words fades out reading "ASYLUM" with "ENTERTAINMENT" also in the same color appears underneath the word.

Variants:

• An in-credit version exists.
• A still version of this logo also exists.
• Starting in 2015 the byline "A LEGENDARY COMPANY" appears below with the Legendary's logo on the left and the same font that was used on the latter's logo on the word "LEGENDARY"
• Sometimes the logo can be shared with other logos.

FX/SFX: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A three-note guitar theme with a synth sound. None or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on their shows from 2013 onwards such as Hollywood Hillbillies, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe and To Rome with Love.

4th Logo (August 2, 2024-)

Logo: "ASYLUM ENTERTAINMENT" is shown in a stacked format, equal length, and with the "A" in "ASYLUM"'s crossbar replaced with a dot.

FX/SFX: A still, digital graphic.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: The logo is seen on Cowboy Cartel.
