Background: This is the music video and DVD division of Arista Records, a record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment. The company was first known as 6 West Home Video, a name derived from the location of Arista's former headquarters, 6 West 57th Street in New York.
6 West Home Video[]
(1988-1998)[]
Logo: On a black background, a blue number "6" spins to the center of the screen. The text "WEST", with "WEST" in a font similar to the Arista logo and the "W" formed from upside-down "A"s, slides into the 6, and the text "H O M E V I D E O" appears on the left side, before moving down to the bottom. The logo shines.
FX/SFX: The spinning, text, and shine.
Music/Sounds: A synth buzz with whooshing sounds as the 6 spins in, a lower synth buzz when the "H O M E V I D E O" text appears, and shine sounds.
Availability: Seen on VHS releases of music-related content from Arista artists from the time, such as Milli Vanilli: In Motion.
Arista Home Video[]
(1998-mid 2000s)[]
Logo: On black space background, complete with stars (with some animated) and nebula clouds, we see an 3D sculpture scrolling by. Many clips of Arista music videos were playing in the sculpture. After a bit, the sculpture shines as it scrolls upwards and eases to the middle, revealing to be the 3D Arista logo. A couple of stars shine, then the logo flash-shines into silver. "HOME VIDEO" (or "DVD" for DVD releases) fades in below (also in silver) as the logo shines a couple more times before fading out.
FX/SFX: The music clips, the shining, the movement of the logo, the "HOME VIDEO" (or "DVD") fading in.
Music/Sounds: It starts out with hissing, then it turn into a simple synthesized tune, which would becomes more majestic towards the middle of the logo.
Availability: Rare. The "HOME VIDEO" version is seen probably on some later VHS releases of music-related content from Arista artists. The DVD version is easier to find, and can, naturally, be found on on DVD releases from Arista, such as P!nk: Most Girls.
