Background[]
Alpha Video was a VHS company founded by Stanley Long. The company formed a partnership with Intervision, who co-distributed Alpha's output until 1985, following Intervision's closure in the mid-80s.
(July 1981-April 1985)[]
Logo: On a dark blue background, a stylized greek letter "alpha" draws by itself. When it is finished, the word "alpha", in lowercase, and in an unusual font, appears.
Variants:
- After the normal logo, in the same blue background, the phrase "FOR YOUR FURTHER ENJOYMENT alpha video PRESENTS" is shown. "Alpha" is stylised in a blocky font with the alpha geek letter boxed on top of the p. "Video" is also stylized, but in a less blocky font. This was also used on the box art for Intervison/Alpha releases.
- On some releases, such as Alligator, the background is black and the text is yellow.
- After the previews, this variant is reused, but the text instead reads "FOR THESE AND OTHER TITLES FROM alpha video ENQUIRE WHERE YOU OBTAINED THIS CASSETTE."
FX/SFX: Basic animation.
Music/Sounds: A sample of "Telex" by Derek Scott [A harsh, droning synth tune with synthetic clunks and beeps]
Music/Sounds Variant: On the pre-cert release of The Kentucky Fried Movie, and the variant, it is silent.
Availability: Extremely rare; seen on very old UK tapes of horror films released through Intervision, particularly Dawn of the Dead.
